We recently had the pleasure of flying over to Cuyler Airfield for a meeting with the incredible folks at EAA Chapter 1349. Nestled between the trees in Glen St. Mary, FL, Cuyler Field is a charming airpark community that feels like stepping into a hidden corner of aviation paradise. The flight in was quick and smooth, and landing on the grass runway was a fun change from our usual paved and water operations!
The warm welcome from the EAA Chapter 1349 community made the trip especially meaningful. This chapter is filled with passionate aviators who care deeply about grassroots flying, aircraft restoration, and preserving the spirit of general aviation. We were invited to chat about setting up our seaplane base, what goes into maintaining it, and the unique joys and logistics of seaplane flying in general.

It was awesome to share stories, swap knowledge, and answer questions from pilots who are as excited about flying as we are. Whether it was swapping maintenance tips or talking about water operations, the enthusiasm in the room reminded us why aviation communities like this matter so much.
After a short field takeoff from the grass strip (something we don’t get to do every day) we headed back home, grateful for the experience and looking forward to future meetups. Huge thanks to EAA Chapter 1349 for having us! We’re excited to visit again.
